Hello!
I propose this schedule, in EDT:
Sign-ups: August 2-7 (late August 2)
Matching: August 8-10
Deadline: August 24
Pinch hit deadline: August 31.
Signing up to this swap means:
- You will provide at least one work to the mod that is between 500 and 10,000 words, or link to published works in this range. You can ask for concrit on longer works as long as your concrit-giver also has shorter works to choose from. (If you want to ask for concrit on longer works only, you can submit a sign-up, but you aren't guaranteed any matches. You will not be required to submit concrit of your own unless there are also participants willing to give you concrit.)
- You are prepared to give content notes on your works - warnings, (optional) genres. (If they're already published, the tags may be enough.)
- You commit to giving feedback on two different works, ideally for two different authors - either line-by-line feedback or summary notes of at least 300 {change from 400} words each. These works might not be in canons you know, and may be up to 10,000 words long. This feedback should be designed to be useful to the author and should be written in the spirit of appreciating and acknowledging what the author may have been trying to do with a piece.
- You are prepared to give feedback either privately or publicly, according to the author's preference.
- You will let the mod know as promptly as possible if you can't give concrit on works you're matched to, or can't give concrit at all due to unexpected factors.
Although some concrit-givers may be willing to give feedback on drafts, please don't expect a full beta job or detailed grammatical corrections.
Here is a
draft (not final!) sign-up form. I'll make a post with it on August 2; comments on that post, where you fill out the form, will be screened. Comments on THIS post won't be - please don't sign up yet, but general thoughts are welcome..

My contact detail for the mod (email, Dreamwidth, Discord handle)
is:
Getting feedback
To submit my work I will [choose one]:
-Make a post on this community with links to my published works
-Make a post on this community with extracts in it under
cuts-Send my sign-up information, including links or extracts, to the mod by email/other
If you want to post on DW but you don't have an account or you are unfamiliar with
cut text code, please say so and I can either format the code for you or make a post for you.
I want to receive feedback by [choose any of that suit you]:
-Email
-Discord PM
-Comment on my DW post in this community
-Comment where the work is published (AO3, ff.net, LJ)
-Other
Other information to include when posting to DW or emailing work to modWhich works / Safe works: If you plan to link to something like an AO3 or ff.net profile, or journal, please say which works you are or aren't interested in getting feedback on (ie, anything complete and written after 2016? Anything except for specific "safe" works?)
Feedback questions: If you have general questions about your writing that could apply to any of your works, or, if you are asking for feedback on specific works or extracts, please include any questions you have! Ie: does the ending work, were the characters' motivations clear, did the twist make sense in retrospect, did you like the descriptions...
Tagging and content: If you want feedback on unpublished pieces, or pieces that don't otherwise have content tags, please say what fandoms they're in and also include notes on whether they include major character death, gore/violence, rape, noncon, or dubcon, underage sex, incest, or other content that may be offputting. I may also send you questions about more specific content before matching you with your concrit-givers.
Giving feedback
I'm interested in giving feedback on [choose either or both]:
-Specific extracts, including drafts
-My choice of an author's published works
I will not read the following content: ... (for example, E or M ratings; infidelity; eye gore)
I'm familiar with these fandoms: ...
(As well as listing specific fandoms - or if listing them all is a hassle - maybe note if you're more likely to be familiar with fandoms in a particular category, like live-action Western TV, or JRPGs, or YA books.)
Other notes about what I'd like to give concrit on: ...
For example, if you'd rather give detailed line-by-line feedback on shorter works, or answer specific questions on longer works, or you have preferred genres you'd like to read even if you can't be matched by fandom.
There was a suggestion earlier about trying to match on genres. What genres would work? As a starting point, here's a
list of genres from fandom5k - could we cut those down or are there any we should add?
Suggestions - and concrit - highly welcome.
ETAIf you want, you can sign up to give concrit only. That will be hugely welcome! There will also be pinch hits.
You cannot sign up to receive concrit only. However, I'm considering a "throw anything into the ring" period after the main swap, sort of like a Madness round, where people aren't guaranteed concrit but don't have to promise to give any either. That will depend on how easy it is to organise, how much energy I have left after the main round, and how many people are keen.
