I hope your assignments are going well and you're enjoying reading!

I have tagged all comm posts with concrit-needed and open-for-concrit. After the deadline, I will remove the "concrit-needed tag" from the posts of people who have received at least two bits of feedback. I will leave "open-for-concrit" on indefinitely. However, you can edit your own posts to remove that tag any time you like, after the event. It's just meant to make posts easier to find.

Pinch hit
I'd like to signal-boost one request, where knowledge of fandoms and interest in interactive fiction will be especially helpful. Please let me know (here, jukebox.mod@gmail.com, Dreamwidth PM) if you can give constructive criticism by August 31 for:

Here are the works I want feedback on: Anything at https://archiveofourown.org/users/htbthomas/works - especially M and E-rated stories, or any rating of F/F. No safe works.

My works' fandoms and content notes are: I mostly write superhero fandoms or TV comedies, though if a fandom contains secret identity it has a good shot of being on my list. See tags on works for full list of fandoms and content.

I have these questions for readers: I don't think I'm very good at writing M/E scenes, and my F/F seems to fall flat. What would improve it?

I would prefer gentle (5) or direct (1) feedback, or something in between: 2-3

My works' fandoms and content notes are: I've written the most for Les Mis (AMT, usually book and musical hybrid) and the Benjamin January mysteries, but I have fics for a variety of fandoms. Full list of fandoms under the cut. I have ratings from G-E, gen and all relationship types, mostly NAWA with a decent minority CNTW and some noncon and major character death.

- Comment on my DW post in this community
- Comment where the work is published
- tumblr message (I’m Filigranka there)

Here are the works I want feedback on (optional: and my safe works are...)
:
https://archiveofourown.org/users/Filigranka - I have no safe works, feel free to comment on anything, drabbles. I write in Polish&English.

My works' fandoms and content notes are
:
I write everything, from gen, fluff, worldbuilding and crack to very dark fics, including extreme underage, incest, non-con, torture, porn, unhealthy relationships, politics, black and black morality etc. – do, please, mind the warnings, tags and author’s notes.

My main fandoms in English are The Witcher (games), Star Wars Sequel Trilogy, Final Fantasy VII, Chronicles of Amber, Harry Potter, Silmarillion… But I’ve written single ficlets for other fandoms, too.

I have these questions for readers:
Any kind of feedback will be appreciated, but a general “SPAG mistakes” alone wouldn’t help me much, without examples or explanation of a specific SPAG problem.

Any comments about where I could have put more descriptions (and how to do it) would be very appreciated. I struggle with summaries, tags and titles a lot and will gladly take any advice about them.

I love all comments, including the formal, style-oriented, sentence-level ones, focused on the sentence flow, phonetics, grammar, paragraph structure, repetitions etc., so if you feel like going all nitpicky, don't restrain yourself. Also, if it’s possible, it’d be help me if the comment mentioned the better parts and aspects of my fics, too. I can make a long list of the things I do wrong, but I have no idea what, if anything, I do right.

I like chatting in comments, so I’ll gladly read (and reply to) any interpretations, views of the characters and their relationships, digressions and side-discussions about worldbuilding, charactes or canon. Or your stream-of-consciousness-like impression about the fic.

Side-note: I love drabbles, getting a con-crit-treat on them would be just as awesome as critique on longer works.

I would prefer gentle (5) or direct (1) feedback, or something in between
:
5-1, anything is fine.

https://archiveofourown.org/users/Masu_Trout/works

I am interested on concrit for anything published within the past year.

My works' fandoms and content notes are:

A variety of fandoms, mostly video games - in particular there's a lot of Deus Ex and Vampyr there. All potential content warnings should be tagged on AO3, I believe.

I have these questions for readers:

1.) Is the description in my works natural-feeling? I always wonder how it sounds, especially in terms of whether there's enough physical description to make the characters feel like they're in a real space as opposed to a featureless void. (Or, on the other hand, whether the description drags on in places, or gets too into a character's thoughts and makes things feel boring.)

2.) Are the interactions between characters natural-sounding, and is there places where they might seem odd or boring, or fail to keep your interest? Do their interactions convey the kind of emotions I'm trying to get across?

3.) If the readers are familiar with my fandoms, I'd love notes on IC-ness.

I would prefer gentle (5) or direct (1) feedback, or something in between: I am most interested in (1), the direct feedback, but am also fine with in-the-middle levels of directness.

https://archiveofourown.org/users/ancslove/works

My works' fandoms and content notes are: On AO3 - Buffyverse, Ancient Greek Religion & Lore/The Iliad, Les Miserables, Star Wars. My works have a lot of noncon, all clearly tagged. I like to write noncon, gen, fluffy slice of life

I have these questions for readers:
  • What is your overall impression?
  • Does anything stand out as particularly effective or well done?
  • How are the character voices?
  • How do you feel about the pacing?  Is anything too meandering, or too rushed?
  • Does the ending feel complete and earned?
  • Anything else you feel could be improved?

(scraping in under the wire!)

I want to receive feedback by: email, at jehanejay18@gmail.com, or this post (comments currently screened comments now unscreened!).

Here are the works I want feedback on : Happy to receive crit on any of the eligible (<10k, non-chaptered?) work under the iberiandoctor tag on AO3: here, and, if you’d read my RPF, the Les Mis RPF tag under jehane: here.
For reasons outlined below, a focus on (any of) the E-rated oneshots would be appreciated.
Co-authored work, as indicated, should be safe.

My works' fandoms and content notes are: Mostly Les Mis and French History RPF writing, with a helping of comics/comics-adjacent (DCU/DCEU, Hellblazer, X-Men, Lucifer (TV)), Crazy Rich Asians (2018), Andre Aciman and Guy Gavriel Kay novels (CMBYN, Lions of Al-Rassan) and opera (Don Carlo), the one Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell fic, and a bunch of RPF. Content warnings are as indicated per AO3 tags and notes on the fic themselves.

I have these questions for readers: I would super appreciate a sex-focused critique, if you were willing to provide one! I write in a range of mostly vanilla m/m sex, with the occasional gangbang, corporal punishment and tentacles thrown in, but lately I have felt a little stuck in a sex writing rut. I am interested in folks giving my sex scenes a cold look: would you have any pointers on sex choreography and language, and thoughts on how to better enhance the intensity and the physical/emotional/sexual connection in the story? Is anything distracting or detracting from the hotness of the sex scenes or the overall story?

Of course, I would also be really grateful for any and all non-sex critique! What are the general strengths and weaknesses of the story? Is there anything I could do to improve on? I tend to over-write; does anything veer into too-purple territory? Which sentences are gripping and which are a snooze?

Here are the works I want feedback on:
Complete works over 2k posted to [archiveofourown.org profile] radialarch in or after 2015; please consider any co-authored works safe.

My works' fandoms and content notes are:
Mainly Captain America movies, Yuri!!! on Ice, podcast RPF, Fire Emblem: Three Houses, scattering of others.

You're most likely to see canon-typical violence, depiction of mental illness, or dubious consent as warnings. See tags/notes on individual works, and I'm also happy to provide more detailed content notes as necessary.

I have these questions for readers:
Looking generally for any strong reactions to specific lines as well as broader impressions on execution. Would welcome anything, but for specifics:
- Are emotional arcs clear?
- Is the ending satisfying?
- Are actions/dialogue in-character?
- Was there anything you wanted to see less or more of?
- Plus any stylistic or thematic notes.

I would prefer gentle (5) or direct (1) feedback, or something in between:

Here are the works I want feedback on: The Blood of Stars (approximate 10K word cut-off is in Chapter 2, the sentence "Merlin, he doesn't want to go in there.")

Impossible Without It (approximate 10K word cut-off is in Chapter 2, the sentence "Inquiries? About what?" Harry said, bewildered.)

I'll leave it up to the reader to decide how much of the proposed sections they decide to review.

ETA: If neither of those is a good fit for you, I'd be interested in concrit for Soft Touch, Warm, Elegy for a Goat, The Lost World, or In Infinite Remorse of Soul. My works on AO3

My works' fandoms and content notes are: Harry Potter fandom, Severus Snape/Harry Potter. No explicit content within the 10K excerpts themselves, although Blood of Stars gets sexually explicit further on and includes a noncon kiss between a 17-year-old and a 38-year-old. Blood of Stars is in Snape's 3rd-person POV, later Harry's 1st-person POV. Impossible Without It is Harry's 3rd-person POV. Blood of Stars is more heavily descriptive, Impossible Without It is an attempt to be more straightforward.

I have these questions for readers: Characterization and style are always important to me, so I'm happy to hear what readers think. Blood of Stars is the first time I've written a Snape POV so I suppose one question would be, how well do I pull it off? Also for Blood of Stars: is the opening too confusing? I don't outline, so I can sometimes use help with pacing. Questions of clarity or general reader investment also matter. Since both stories are still in the early stages, you won't be able to comment on the narrative arc, but any observations on the speed, continuity, and structure of what's there is welcome. Frankly, all feedback is welcome.

I would prefer gentle (5) or direct (1) feedback, or something in between: I'm fine with all levels as long as the feedback is offered with respect.

My AO3 is impilii, and the following are works I would like to receive feedback on:
As Soft as Air, OW, F/F, rated E, (noncon) 4089 words
Collateral, Iron Man, M/M, rated E, (dub/noncon) 3908 words
Vows, The Course of Honour, M/M, rated T, (discussion of violence) 2047 words
Sweet and Undefeated, Hercules, M/M and F/M, rated E (noncon) 5368 words
Take It From Me, The Little Mermaid, M/F, rated E (noncon) 3236 words

My works' fandoms and content notes are:
Original Work, Iron Man, Disney animated movies, and one for The Course of Honour that’s listed under OW by an AO3 quirk. Many of the works were written for Consent Issues and Nonconathon and contain noncon. Vows does not have noncon.

I have these questions for readers:
General questions for all:
- What do you think of the summary and tags? Is the summary too short? Does it give enough insight into the content/tone of the piece? Any suggestions for an excerpt from the fic that seems appropriate to put in the summary?
- Pacing: How is it? How is the balance of action, dialogue and description?
Are things too rushed? Is there any point where you feel bored, or would be inclined to backbutton?
- Dialogue: Does the dialogue seem natural? Are there too many actions in place of dialogue tags?
- Blocking: Particularly in E-rated fics, is the blocking easy to follow and did it make sense? Did anything feel robotic/lacking in emotional followthrough?

Here are the works I want feedback on: On a Different Frequency, an endlessly upward world, things look different from here, making up for lost time, The Red Angels, the greatest mysteries come in threes, working on halloween, new normal, the ones who stayed, all for the best, she was human.

My works' fandoms and content notes are: Mostly either Star Trek: Discovery or original works. One is tagged 'The Hymn of Acxiom - Vienna Teng (Song)'--that is in practice an original work inspired by that song. All the Discovery fics listed are gen; the original works are either gen or non-sexually-explicit F/F. the ones who stayed is tagged for Major Character Death. The ones that are tagged Choose Not to Warn usually include canonical character death/talk about it.

I have these questions for readers: What is your overall impression? For the Discovery fics, if you know the fandom, do the characters seem IC? If you don't know the fandom or you're critiquing an original work, do you get a good sense of who the characters are and do they seem internally consistent? If you're reading one of the F/F stories, is the characters' relationship believable to you, do you like it, and do the characters' feelings about each other come across well? For any of the stories, are the characters' emotions conveyed well in general? Does the dialogue flow well? Do any parts not make sense? Is the prose in general written well, and is there a good balance of description vs. dialogue vs. narration vs. POV characters' thoughts? Does it start and end in places/ways that work for you? Is there anything else that you particularly liked or disliked? Feedback on summary/title/tags is also welcome.

I would prefer gentle (5) or direct (1) feedback, or something in between: 3-ish.

I'm only interested in feedback for works published on or after Dec 24, 2014, PLUS "A Temporary Arrangement," which is a little further back. I'm also not that interested in feedback for the strict PWPs. (Some of my fics are Explicit, but are not strictly PWPs--the PWPs are tagged. Feedback on the non-PWP explicit fics is fine.)

My works' fandoms and content notes are:
- MCU (especially Thor)
- ASOIAF/GOT (sometimes both/either, sometimes more strictly one or the other)
- Battlestar Galactica (2003)
Most of my fics are No Archive Warnings Apply. The CNTW fics are pretty thoroughly tagged, I think. I can answer any questions you have about content before you read.
Much of my eligible work is concentrated around a few ships (Jon Snow/Sansa Stark, Jon Snow/Theon Greyjoy, Jane Foster/Loki, Laura Roslin/Lee Adama) and is almost all shippy one-shots.

I have these questions for readers:
(choose any questions you feel you can answer effectively)
- Was there anything in particular you thought was well-done or effective?
- As you were reading, what didn't make sense or felt confusing?
- How clear are the characters' motivations and decisions?
- How fulfilling did you find the development of the characters' relationship (if applicable)?
- Did anything feel unnecessary?
- Conversely, was there something you wanted more of, or something you felt was missing that would help make the story feel more complete?
- How impactful/effective are the scene openings and endings?
- Do you have any specific suggestions for anything that might be more effective done differently? (Personally, I LOVE brainstorming alternative choices and imagining the story in different ways--if something comes to mind [that you think I would be interested in based on what you've read of my writing], feel free to share it!) (An example: if you thought a scene would be more impactful in a different setting for some reason.)

- safe works: It's (Redundantly) a Dark Night, Watch Where You're Going, Wrong Turn, You Like Despairing

My works' fandoms and content notes are:
- Fandoms: Mostly Good Omens, plus some original works, some Ilona Andrews fantasy book series, and some The Bright Sessions podcast
- Content notes: Some are explicit but not most. Most are No Archive Warnings Apply, but some are non-con or CNTW for consent issues. I can answer more specific questions about the CNTW fics (or any fic) if desired.

I have these questions for readers:
Your general impressions would be great! Feedback on any of these questions would also be helpful, if you would like a specific jumping off point.
- General questions: Does the ending feel like it pays off? Are emotions communicated well? (Ex. does it actually feel like the characters are pining.) How is the pacing?
- Original work: How is the worldbuilding? Interesting, consistent, over- or under-communicated, etc.?
- Smut: What contributed to a smut scene being hot? Anything that felt lacking? Or, how was the description vs. dialogue ratio?
- Non-con/consent issues: What made the villain effective or could make the villain more sinister/threatening?
- Longer work: If you are interested in reading a longer work, I have two original works (Devotion, Threefold - 15K; Here and Now - 20K; both no archive warnings apply) and would appreciate feedback on how well pre-story events were woven in, what worked and what didn't with that.

This is the work I would most like feedback on:
Watership Down coffee shop AU
Fandom: Watership Down, coffee shop AU
Rating: G
Relationships: none
Word count: ~5.5k and ongoing.
Notes: Lighthearted/crack, no additional content notes. No need to know the fandom but if you do that's great :)

- Looking for feedback on flow and pacing, dialogue, worldbuilding, character/relationship development, and entertainment value.
- Any particular impressions of the main characters? Any side characters or arcs you found memorable, either positively or negatively?

If you prefer to look at something else:
sunfall
Fandom: Final Fantasy XV
Rating: G
Relationships: Gilgamesh/Ardyn (M/M, very light and readable as gen)
Word count: 3.8K over 6 ficlets
Notes: Ficlet collection for a ship week, contains mentioned non-permanent character death. No need to know the fandom but if you do that's great :)

- Looking for line-level concrit on flow, word choice and emotional nuance (any awkward or odd phrasing? what feelings come across, and are they too melodramatic or not strong enough?)
- Which of the stories worked and which less well? Was that because of the writing style, the subject matter, or something else?

If you don't have time to read the entirety of the longer works, only reviewing a few chapters is fine.

Here are the works I want feedback on:
Flawed Crystals (Steven Universe), fangame, playtime ~8 hours
The Darkness Between Stars (Steven Universe), 80k words, complete
Unwanted (The Amazing World of Gumball), 10k words, oneshot
The Boulevard of Broken Hearts (The Amazing World of Gumball), 20k words, complete
The Cure For Nothing (The Reconstruction), 3k words, oneshot
The Gospel of Cynthia (Pokemon), 3k words, complete
any Pokemon oneshot (vary between 400 and 10k words)

My works' fandoms and content notes are:
Steven Universe
The Amazing World of Gumball
Pokemon games
The Reconstruction

content notes: Mental illness, references to abuse, family drama, relationship drama and discussion of infidelity (The Boulevard of Broken Hearts), some graphic violence (but mostly isolated to a few scenes). I believe I am pretty thorough with tagging, but please tell me if there are any tags you'd like me to add.

I would prefer gentle (5) or direct (1) feedback, or something in between: Direct

I have these questions for readers:

  • For all fics: Were the characters in-character? Did you like their characterizations?

  • Most of my Pokemon fic are explicitly commentaries on the way canon and fandom treat pokemon and how much agency can be ascribed to them. With the exception of Blood is Thicker Than Water, they are the focus of the piece and the perspectives you should consider. Please comment on what you thought of them and their behavior.

  • For The Gospel of Cynthia, I would appreciate a response to my author's note on the topic of religion in Pokemon. Did the fic give you any ideas or make you reevaluate your prior assumptions?

  • The Darkness Between Stars is an explicit response to and criticism of canon, with many scenes being direct parallels or retellings of canon ones. What do you think of this criticism? Do you feel it is accurate or inaccurate? What do you think of the changes I made to make my AU work?

  • For Flawed Crystals, did I handle the characters' issues accurately and respectfully?

  • For Flawed Crystals, how did you treat Jasper and why? Was the climax of her arc satisfying or unsatisfying?

  • For Flawed Crystals, what did you think of the ending and metacommentary?

  • For Flawed Crystals, how was the game balance? Did you feel any of the characters were disproportionately useful or underutilized? Do you have anything to add to the developer retrospective?

  • For Flawed Crystals, did you fight the superboss and did you feel it provided an appropriate challenge?

Anything I've published from (and including) 2018 onwards—that is not a drabble, double or triple drabble, or drabble series/collection—is up for grabs. Out of those, I have a slight preference for feedback on the following works, but will appreciate feedback on any fic(s) you choose:

- Finishing (Touches) - Night at the Museum (4.2k)
- Fragments - Russian Doll (3.4k)
- Submergence (Reprise) - The Book of Mormon (2.9k)

Should you feel inclined to read something 10k+, I’m also interested in feedback on: Stages – Reservoir Dogs (12.5k)

My safe works: The Intricacies of Pleasure – Star Trek: The Next Generation (Movies); An unworthy substitute - Kingsman (Movies); Confidence - Independence Day (Movies); any drabbles, double and triple drabbles, or drabble series/collections.

Here are the works I want feedback on (optional: and my safe works are...): AO3, anything except my safe works, which are any Doctor Who and Torchwood fic and my one Bad Bang fic (since it was intentionally bad)

My works' fandoms and content notes are:
Fandoms are mostly big TV/movie fandoms plus some Yuletide-sized fandoms. Fandoms I have more than 2 fics for: Star Trek AOS, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Pitch Perfect, The Magicians (TV), MCU, Fringe (TV)

Content notes: I write a lot of porn. I do have G and T rated stuff that would be great to get crit on as well, but porn is my primary thing. The things I end up warning for most often are medium levels of violence/gore and dubcon of various flavors (aliens made them do it, intoxicated characters, etc). Most of my fic is either No Warnings Apply or CNTW + any non-archive warnings will be in an A/N.

I have these questions for readers: General impressions and thoughts, plus: I know I use a ton of comma splices and long sentences. Is that distracting? Do I vary my sentence structure enough? If you're reading across several works, are there particular writing tics you notice that just keep showing up or are distracting?

I would prefer gentle (5) or direct (1) feedback, or something in between: 3-4, medium to gentle-ish.
